Our Mission
The Mission & Activities of VMC
- Is committed to fulfilling the great commission of Jesus Christ in Canada
- Behaves like a mission and provides some of the services of a denomination
- Serves a Canada-wide network of 140 diverse, multi-ethnic churches
- Fits solidly within the evangelical stream of Canadian churches.
- Is a member of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities
- It’s leaders and about two thirds of the churches associated with VMC have history in the historic Brethren movement which focused on the restoration of N.T church life
- Views itself as a cooperating mission for kingdom causes along with other Canadian evangelical denominations, mission agencies and institutions
- Is convinced that the best way to enhance the spiritual landscape of Canada is through “More Flourishing Effective Churches” (our motto)
What we do – VMC
- Actively facilitates church planting and the formation of new congregations
- Assists existing churches extend their reach by developing multiple services, congregations, or linked churches – either on or off site
- Coaches church leaders and entire leadership groups to help them be more effective
- Is engaged in the process of opening ministry doors for emerging leaders
- Provides “elder workshops” and regional leadership development events
- Cultivates positive relationships among the leaders of their network of churches
- Provides church health assessments for congregations
- Generates vision for its church constituency by example, through publications and via the web site
- Works cooperatively with other denominations and ministry agencies
- Helps churches that are searching for a pastor or need interim pastoral help
- Provides funding for new kingdom initiatives
- Assists key leaders to develop and support additional networks of churches
- Facilitates licensing to perform marriages
- Maintains a research lab for church planters
- Maintains a list of officially commissioned ministry personnel on our web site (helpful in dealing with government/legal agencies
